Erect herbs, to 50 cm tall, covered with septate hairs; stems much branched.
Leaves petiolate; petiole puberulent, 0.5–2 cm long; blade 5–12 cm long, 2–5 cm wide, rhomboid, base cuneate, apex acuminate, margins deeply serrate, both surfaces puberulent.
Inflorescences verticillate cymes, forming loose terminal racemes; bracteoles minutely hairy. Flowers pedicellate; pedicels minutely hairy, to 2 mm long; calyx campanulate, bilabiate, upper lip broadly ovate, lower lip 4-toothed, 2 lateral teeth triangular, 2 lower teeth narrowly triangular; corolla tubular, bilabiate, upper lip 3-lobed, central lobe emarginate; stamens long-exserted.
Nutlets ca. 1.5 mm wide, ovoid, slightly compressed, reticulate.
